Delete Your Account

Last updated: April 21, 2026

At Orthodate, we respect your right to control your personal data. If you no longer wish to use the app, you can request that your account and all associated data be permanently deleted. This page explains how to do that and what happens to your data afterward.

How to Request Account Deletion

Option 1 — From within the Orthodate app

  1. Open the Orthodate app and go to your Profile tab.
  2. Tap Settings (gear icon).
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Option 2 — By email

If you cannot access the app, send an email to support@orthodate.co with the subject line “Account Deletion Request”. Please include the phone number associated with your account so we can verify your identity.

We will process your request and confirm the deletion within 30 days of receiving it.

Data That Is Deleted

When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed from our systems:

  • Profile information — name, bio, date of birth, gender, education, profession, interests, height, ethnicity, marital status, children count, and languages spoken.
  • Faith information — faith level, church type, home parish, crowning preference, spiritual life indicators, baptismal name, and name day.
  • Photos — all profile photos are removed from our storage.
  • Messages — all conversations and message content.
  • Matches & likes — all match history, likes, and related interactions.
  • Preferences — discovery preferences, notification settings, and lifestyle information.
  • Location data — city, country, and any stored geolocation data.

Data That May Be Retained

In certain circumstances, we may retain limited data for a period after account deletion:

  • Transaction & billing records — purchase history may be retained for up to 180 days to comply with tax, accounting, and financial reporting obligations.
  • Safety & abuse records — if your account was flagged for a terms-of-service violation, limited identifiers may be retained to prevent re-registration and protect community safety.
  • Legal obligations — data required by applicable law, regulation, or valid legal process may be retained for the minimum period required.

Any retained data is kept in a secure, access-restricted environment and is deleted once the retention period expires.
