Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Wedocore Inc., a company incorporated in the United States, which operates Orthodate (“Orthodate”, “we”, “us”). They govern your use of the Orthodate website, applications and related services (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service you confirm that you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.

Our registered details are:

Orthodate is a commercial product operated by a for-profit company. It is not a charity, a non-profit or a religious organisation, it is not endorsed by or affiliated with any Orthodox jurisdiction, diocese or parish, and payments made to us are not donations and are not tax-deductible.

You may use the Service only if you are at least 18 years old, are legally able to enter into a contract with us, and have never been convicted of a felony, a sex offence or any violent crime. You must not be listed on any sex-offender register. You may hold only one account.

Orthodate is an adults-only service. We remove any account we believe belongs to a person under 18, without notice and without refund, and we report the matter where we are required or permitted to do so. If you believe a minor is using Orthodate, tell us immediately at support@orthodate.co.

You must not use the Service if you are subject to sanctions administered by the United States or another applicable authority, or if you are located in a territory against which such sanctions are directed.

Orthodate is not offered everywhere. We do not provide the Service, and cannot accept payment, in:

• Places subject to sanctions we and our payment provider must observe: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Crimea, the Donetsk region, the Luhansk region.
• Countries where online dating and matchmaking services are prohibited: India, Malaysia, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates.

We apply this using the country of your verified mobile number, the location saved on your profile and the approximate country of your internet connection. If you are in one of those places you will not be able to create an account, use the Service or start a subscription, and we will show you a notice explaining why. If you already hold a subscription, that notice also lets you cancel it. This list can change if the law or our payment provider’s rules change.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for all activity that happens under your account. Keep your login details confidential and tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access. We verify email addresses and, where enabled, mobile numbers in order to reduce fake profiles.

Our Acceptable Use Policy forms part of these Terms and sets out in full what is and is not allowed on Orthodate, how we enforce it and how to appeal a decision. In summary, when using the Service you agree not to:

• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your age, identity or affiliation.
• Harass, threaten, defame, stalk or discriminate against other members.
• Post nudity, sexually explicit material, violence, hate speech or anything unlawful.
• Use the Service for commercial solicitation, advertising, spam or financial scams.
• Request or send money, or share financial details with other members.
• Upload photographs of anyone else without their permission, or images of minors.
• Scrape, copy or otherwise harvest member data, or use bots and automated access.
• Attempt to interfere with, probe or compromise the security of the Service.

We may investigate, remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules, at our discretion and without prior notice.

The following are absolutely prohibited on Orthodate. They are set out separately from section 4 because they are not matters of degree, there is no context in which they are permitted, and a single instance ends an account permanently.

Human trafficking and sexual exploitation. You must not use the Service to engage in, attempt, advertise, arrange, recruit for, solicit, finance or in any way further human trafficking or the sexual exploitation of any person. This includes sex trafficking, forced labour, servitude, debt bondage and the recruitment, harbouring, transport or transfer of a person for exploitation, whether by force, fraud, coercion or the abuse of a position of vulnerability. It applies whether the exploitation would take place on Orthodate, elsewhere online or in person.

Commercial sexual services. You must not offer, solicit, advertise, arrange or pay for prostitution, escorting, webcam or pornographic performance, or any other sexual act or sexual content in exchange for money, goods, accommodation, employment, immigration assistance or anything else of value. Orthodate is a dating service and must not be used to arrange transactional sexual relationships of any kind.

Child sexual exploitation.You must not post, send, request, link to or possess on the Service any sexual content involving a person under 18, and you must not sexualise a minor, groom, solicit or attempt to meet a minor for a sexual purpose, or misrepresent your age to a minor. Content of this kind is removed, the account is closed permanently, the evidence is preserved, and the matter is reported to law enforcement and to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Aiding, abetting and encouraging abuse. You must not aid, abet, assist, facilitate, enable, instruct, solicit, conspire in, promote, advertise, encourage, normalise, celebrate or glorify any of the conduct described in this section, or any physical, sexual, emotional, financial or domestic abuse, exploitation, violence, stalking or self-harm — whether against a member, against any other person, or against yourself. This includes sharing instructions, techniques, contacts or links that further such conduct, and it applies equally to conduct that would take place off Orthodate.

Coercion and non-consensual imagery. You must not threaten, blackmail or extort any person, including by threatening to publish intimate images or private information, and you must not share, request or threaten to share intimate images of a person without that person’s consent.

A breach of this section results in immediate and permanent termination without notice and without refund. We will preserve the relevant records and report the matter to law enforcement and to any other competent authority, in accordance with our Law Enforcement Guidelines. If you encounter any of this on Orthodate, report it through the report control on the profile or conversation, or write to support@orthodate.co. If a person is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.

You retain ownership of the photos, answers and messages you upload. By posting them you grant Orthodate a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display that content solely for the purpose of operating, improving and moderating the Service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies retained in backups or where retention is required by law.

Orthodate can be used without paying. A free account includes a daily set of profiles, matching and messaging. Two paid subscriptions, Orthodate+ and OrthodateX, unlock additional features; what each one includes, and the price, are shown on our pricing page and again at the point of purchase before you pay. All prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that we are required to collect, which is shown separately at checkout. Your bank or card issuer may apply its own currency-conversion charge, which is a matter between you and them.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card number. The charge appears on your statement as WEDOCORE, the name of the company that operates Orthodate.

Subscriptions are charged at the start of each billing period and renew automatically for successive periods at the then-current price until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Settings, which opens the billing portal. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep the paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not refund the unused part of a period that has already begun, except where a statutory right requires it. Our Refund Policy forms part of these Terms and sets out every case in which we do refund, your statutory withdrawal rights, and how to raise a charge you do not recognise.

If a payment fails we may retry it and may suspend the paid features until it succeeds. Your account, profile, matches and messages are not deleted when a subscription ends: the account simply returns to the free tier. Settings that only apply on a paid plan, such as the advanced filters, are kept as you left them and stop being applied until you subscribe again.

A subscription changes what the Service offers you. It does not:

• Guarantee that you will receive likes, matches, replies or a relationship.
• Alter how reports, verification or moderation decisions are handled. The rules are the same on every plan, and paying does not protect an account from being suspended or closed.
• Reduce or remove another member’s visibility. Features that raise a profile never hide anyone else’s.
• Identify you to other members as a subscriber.

We may change prices with reasonable notice; changes take effect at the next renewal, and you can cancel before then if you do not accept the new price. Where you are a consumer in a jurisdiction that grants a statutory withdrawal, cancellation or refund right, that right applies in addition to the above and nothing here limits it. If you buy a subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play, that store handles the billing and its own refund policy applies; cancel through the store rather than through us.

Orthodate does not conduct criminal background checks on members. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other members. Take sensible precautions: meet in public places, tell someone where you are going, never send money, and report anyone who makes you uncomfortable. Report concerns through our contact form.

The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics and trade marks, belongs to Orthodate or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our written permission.

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including sections 5, 6, 9, 11, 12 and 13) will continue to apply.

Accounts placed on hold. If we place your account on hold we will tell you in writing what needs to change. While a hold is in place your profile is hidden and Discover, Likes and Matches are closed, but your profile, photos and settings remain available to you so that you can put the matter right.

• A hold that is not resolved within 14 days of being placed will close your account automatically. Your sign-in will be suspended and your profile will stay hidden.
• We will send you a reminder by email approximately 7 days after the hold begins, at the email address on your account. It is your responsibility to keep that address reachable.
• Making the change we asked for and sending us a message from the hold page is enough to stop this. A person then reviews it.
• Closing an account this way suspends access rather than erasing data, so the decision can be reversed. If you believe we got it wrong, contact us and a person will look again.
• Closure does not entitle you to a refund of any unused part of a subscription period, and no further charges will be taken.
• You may ask us to delete your account and the personal data in it at any time, including after it has been closed. See our Privacy Policy for how to do that.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that profiles are accurate, or that you will find a match.

To the extent permitted by law, Orthodate will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or fifty euros (€50). Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect, and continued use after that date means you accept the revised Terms. These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at our principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts there, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
