The short answer

Orthodate is open to adult Orthodox singles anywhere in the world and helps members discover people according to their chosen age and distance preferences. These city guides explain how to set a realistic search area and move from an online conversation to a safer public meeting. Most cover major US metro areas, with more cities worldwide being added; you can join from any country even if your city is not listed yet.

Start with a place you can reach consistently

A useful dating radius is not simply the largest number you can select. Think about weekday traffic, public transport, parish commitments and how often you could meet if a conversation becomes a relationship.

Choose the guide closest to where you live, then include the surrounding metro area when those journeys are genuinely part of your life. If your city does not have a guide yet, the same approach works anywhere: start with what you can travel regularly and widen from there.

One Church, many countries

Orthodox Christianity is a global communion, and Orthodate is open to eligible adults wherever they live. Members come from historically Orthodox countries, from long-established diaspora communities and from places where a single parish serves an entire region.

Most of the guides below cover United States metro areas, because that is where the largest share of our members are today. Other cities and countries are being added over time; nothing stops you creating a profile from anywhere in the meantime.

No guide needed to join
Sign up from any country—the city pages are guidance, not a list of where the app works.
Set distance honestly
A wide radius makes sense where Orthodox communities are spread thin, a narrow one in dense cities.
Language matters
Say which languages you are comfortable in; the interface is available in English, Russian and Greek.

One faith across many local communities

Orthodox Christians in the United States worship in Greek, Antiochian, OCA, Russian, Serbian, Romanian, Ukrainian, Georgian, Bulgarian and other canonical traditions. City and suburban parish communities often overlap, but language, calendar and family culture can still be important conversations.

Elsewhere the same faith is carried by whichever communities settled there, and a single parish may serve an entire region. Where the local community is small, the country guides explain how to set an honest radius rather than a flattering one.

Show your real life
Use profile answers to describe faith, family, interests and an ordinary week.
Ask with curiosity
Shared Orthodoxy is a foundation for conversation, not proof that two people are compatible.
Make a practical plan
When interest is mutual, choose a public place both people can reach independently.

What local discovery does—and does not—mean

Orthodate uses the preferences a member chooses, including distance, to support discovery. It does not publish an exact home address, and this guide does not promise a particular number of members in any city.

If your immediate Orthodox community is small, you can widen your radius deliberately. Long-distance dating still needs a realistic path to meeting in person and a fair plan for travel.

Questions

Good to know

All questions

Where is Orthodate available?

Orthodate is a web app open to eligible adults worldwide—anyone with a modern browser can create a profile. The city guides focus on major US metro areas because that is where most members are today; they do not limit where the service can be used.

There is no guide for my city or country. Can I still join?

Yes. City guides are editorial guidance, not a list of supported places. Create a profile, set a distance that reflects how far you would genuinely travel, and widen it if your local Orthodox community is small.

Does a city guide mean profiles are always available there?

No. Member availability changes by location, preferences and time. The guides explain how to choose a practical search area without promising a specific number of matches.

Can other members see my address?

No. Orthodate does not display your exact home address or a precise public map pin. Profiles may show an approximate distance.
