How the money side works

We would rather you read this before you pay than after. Everything here is also in our Terms & Conditions and Refund Policy.

  • Paid up front, per term

    You choose one, three or six months and pay for that whole term at the start of it. Longer terms cost less per month.

  • US dollars, tax shown separately

    Prices exclude any tax we are required to collect. The exact total, including tax, is shown at checkout before you confirm.

  • Stripe takes the payment

    We never receive or store your card number. The charge appears on your statement as WEDOCORE.

  • It renews until you stop it

    Each term renews automatically at the price in force then. Price changes only ever apply at a renewal, and we tell you first.

  • Cancel in Settings, any time

    A few taps, no email, no reason required. You keep the paid features until the term you already paid for runs out.

  • Nothing is lost if you stop

    Your profile, matches and messages stay. The account simply returns to the free tier.

Being straight with you

What a subscription does not do

  • It cannot promise you matches

    No plan guarantees likes, replies, dates or a relationship. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.

  • It does not buy leniency

    Reports, verification and moderation work the same on every plan. Paying does not protect an account from being closed.

  • It never hides anyone else

    Features that lift your profile do not push another member down out of sight. Nobody pays to make someone else invisible.

  • It is not shown to other members

    Nothing on your profile tells anyone whether you pay. There is no badge and no ranking label.

Questions

Before you subscribe

Can I use Orthodate without paying?

Yes. A free account is a usable product, not a trial. You get 3 new profiles a day, you can match, and you can send unlimited messages to everyone you match with. A subscription adds features; it never unlocks the ability to talk to people.

What currency are the prices in, and is tax included?

All prices are in US dollars. They exclude any tax we are required to collect, which is calculated and shown separately at checkout before you pay. Your bank may add its own currency-conversion charge, which is a matter between you and them.

How will the charge appear on my statement?

As WEDOCORE — the name of the company that operates Orthodate. If you see a charge you do not recognise, that is almost always why.

Does the subscription renew automatically?

Yes. A subscription renews for successive terms of the same length, at the price in force at the time of renewal, until you cancel. We only ever change a price at a renewal, never mid-term, and we give notice first.

How do I cancel?

From Settings inside the app, in a few taps. You never have to email us or explain yourself. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep the paid features until the end of the term you have already paid for.

What happens to my profile if I stop paying?

Nothing is deleted. The account returns to the free tier with your profile, matches and messages intact. Settings that only apply on a paid plan, such as the advanced filters, are kept as you left them and simply stop being applied.

Can I get a refund?

We do not refund the unused part of a term that has already started, but we do refund duplicate charges, charges made after a cancellation, unauthorised charges and mistakes, and statutory withdrawal rights always apply on top. The Refund Policy sets out every case in full.

Who processes the payment?

Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe’s own checkout and are never received or stored by Orthodate.

Is Orthodate available everywhere?

No. We cannot offer the service or accept payment in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Crimea, the Donetsk region, the Luhansk region, which are subject to sanctions we and our payment provider must observe, nor in India, Malaysia, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, where online dating and matchmaking services are prohibited. If you are in one of those places you will not be able to create an account or start a subscription. Section 2 of the Terms sets this out in full.
