Orthodate

Refund Policy

Last updated 1 October 2026

1. What this covers

This policy explains how Orthodate subscriptions are billed, how to cancel one, and when you can expect money back. It applies to Orthodate+ and OrthodateX subscriptions bought directly from us. Prices and what each plan includes are on our pricing page, and this policy forms part of our Terms & Conditions.

Orthodate can be used without paying, and a free account is a usable product rather than a trial. A subscription adds features; it never unlocks the ability to match or message, which everyone has.

2. How billing works

  • You choose a plan and a term of one, three or six months, and you pay for that whole term up front.
  • All prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax we are required to collect, which is shown separately before you pay.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your card number.
  • The charge appears on your statement as WEDOCORE, the name of the company that operates Orthodate.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically for successive terms of the same length, at the price in force at the time of renewal, until you cancel.

3. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time, in a few taps, from Settings inside the app. That opens the billing portal, where you can also update your card or download an invoice. You do not need to email us, and we will never ask you to justify a cancellation.

Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not end the term you have already paid for: you keep the paid features until that term runs out, and then the account returns to the free tier. Nothing is deleted when a subscription ends — your profile, matches and messages stay exactly as they were. Settings that only apply on a paid plan, such as the advanced filters, are kept as you left them and simply stop being applied.

4. Our standard position on refunds

Because a subscription is sold as a term that begins immediately, we do not refund the unused part of a term that has already started, and we do not refund a renewal you forgot to cancel before it was charged. Cancel before the renewal date and you will not be charged again.

This paragraph does not limit any statutory right you have. Where the law of your country of residence gives you a withdrawal, cancellation or refund right, that right applies in addition to this policy and overrides anything here that conflicts with it. See section 6.

5. When we do refund

We would rather return money than argue about it. Write to us and we will refund you, normally in full, in any of these cases.

  • You were charged twice for the same term, or charged after you had already cancelled.
  • You were charged on a card that was not yours and that you did not authorise.
  • You bought a subscription and a fault on our side meant you could not use the features you paid for, and we could not fix it.
  • You bought the wrong plan or the wrong term by mistake and tell us promptly, before making significant use of it.
  • We close your account for a reason that is not your fault. In that case we refund the unused part of the current term.
  • We materially reduce what a plan includes during a term you have already paid for.

We do not refund where an account is closed or suspended because of a breach of our Acceptable Use Policy, and we do not refund on the basis that you did not get the matches, replies or relationship you hoped for. No dating service can promise that, and we do not.

6. Statutory withdrawal rights

If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or another jurisdiction with equivalent rules, you generally have 14 days from the start of a subscription to withdraw from it without giving a reason. Tell us within that period and we will process the withdrawal.

Where you asked us to begin the service immediately — which is what happens when you subscribe and the features unlock straight away — we may deduct a proportionate amount for the part of the term you had access to before withdrawing, and refund the rest. If you have not used the paid features at all, we refund the full amount.

Residents of some US states, including California, have additional cancellation rights for automatically renewing subscriptions. Nothing in this policy limits them.

7. How to ask for a refund

Email support@orthodate.co or use our contact form. Include the email address on the account and the date and amount of the charge — that is enough for us to find it.

We aim to answer within 2 business days. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method through Stripe. Once we issue one, the money usually appears within five to ten business days, depending on your bank; that part is not in our control. Refunds are made in US dollars, so a currency-conversion difference between the original charge and the refund is a matter between you and your card issuer.

8. Charges you do not recognise

Our charges appear as WEDOCORE, not as Orthodate, which is the usual reason a charge looks unfamiliar. If you are unsure, please contact us before raising a dispute with your bank — we can identify the charge immediately and refund it on the spot if it should not have been made.

Raising a chargeback for a charge you did authorise costs us a fee whatever the outcome, and we may suspend or close an account used that way. Contacting us first is faster for you and cheaper for us.

9. Failed payments and price changes

If a renewal payment fails we may retry it over a short period and may suspend the paid features until it succeeds. We will tell you before the subscription is cancelled for non-payment. You are never charged for a period the account did not receive.

We may change prices with reasonable notice. A change only ever takes effect at your next renewal, never mid-term, and you can cancel before then if you do not accept the new price.

10. Purchases made through an app store

If you ever buy an Orthodate subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play, that store takes the payment and its own refund policy applies. We cannot issue a refund for a purchase we did not process, and a cancellation has to be made through the store rather than through us.
