Frequently asked questions
Verification, cost, safety and how matching actually works — all answered on one page.
What is Orthodate?
Orthodate is an online dating app for Orthodox Christians. It helps Orthodox singles meet other believers near them who share the same faith, values and intentions, with profiles built around real questions instead of endless swiping.
Who is Orthodate for?
Orthodate is for practising and returning Orthodox Christians aged 18 and over who are single and hoping to meet someone for a serious relationship and marriage. Both cradle Orthodox and converts are welcome.
How does Orthodate work?
You create a profile with a few photos and answer as many faith and lifestyle questions as you like. Orthodate then shows you compatible people nearby. Instead of swiping, you reply to a specific photo or answer, so a conversation starts with something real. When you both like each other, you can chat and take it offline.
Which Orthodox jurisdictions and traditions are welcome?
All of them. Greek, Russian, Serbian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Georgian, Antiochian, Ukrainian, OCA and other Orthodox Christians use Orthodate, and you can say on your profile which parish tradition you belong to and how often you attend.
How much does Orthodate cost?
You can create a profile, browse and start meeting people today. Paid plans with extra features are on the way, and you will always be told clearly what a plan includes before anything is charged. There is no advertising anywhere in Orthodate.
How does Orthodate keep members safe?
Every account is verified by email and by mobile phone number before it appears in discovery. You can block or report anyone, your exact address is never shown — only an approximate distance — and you can delete your account and all of your data in one tap.
